Commuting to university during third year?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently in my second year of uni, but I know that soon I'll have to start finding accommodation for next year. Living in my uni city is really expensive (I'm not sure I'll able to afford housing or halls next year) and my parents live an hour away, so I was wondering if anyone else commuted a similar distance in their final year?

I know some people who are currently doing that, but if anyone has any insight that'd be greatly appreciated!
I don’t know how y’all do it. I’ve been doing it for two months by train and I’m ABSOLUTELY sick of it. I’m already looking for a place to stay with my friend for next year

Why is this anon?

An hour's commute in your final year is an awfully long time. How many lectures on how many days do you need to attend? Obviously you won't yet have your timetable, but you should be able to find out from current final year students.

One of my peers had to do a 1.5 hour commute for his final year due to running out of money for accommodation. He really didn't like it, as it stopped him being able to socialise as much. He also sometimes had to decide between attending lectures or saving money by studying at home. It definitely wasn't an ideal situation when he was trying to do his dissertation.

I did a 45-60 min commute and it was ok.

I can relate. It's been a month for me by bus and i hate it. Especially since only ONE bus takes me there and back to my uni. Reasons why I'm so serious about taking driving lessons etc.

Well you're lucky. If I were you I'd just drive regardless of the parking issues lol
