Hey guys,
What do you lot think would be the case for the grade boundaries for AQA Biology..
I really, really hope these aren't the grade boundaries, but do you think these are gonna be them:

A* - 90%
A - 80%
B - 70%
C - 60%
D - 50%

and so on and so forth..
please share your thoughts

thanks!

That's UMS point boundaries, not percentage boundaries.

Judging on past papers and the hardness of this years papers, probably about 65% in B3, 70% in B2 for an A*.

As a raw percentage (i.e. the actual % of marks /45 that you need) ?

i mean B1a+B1b+B2+B3 (overall percentage out of the 400 UMS) for A*

i doubt it would be 90% for A*
what will it be then

Ovreall you need 360/400 UMS for an A*, which is 90% but that's UMS not raw percentages. It's impossible to predict a real percentage, but roughly I'd say:
B1: 90%=90 UMS (on the multiple choice papers at least)
B2: 75% = 90 UMS
B3: 65% = 90 UMS
ISA: 80% = 90 UMS

So that works out as an average of 78%, but of course this isn't accurate, just my two cents

Same. When you think about it, that is giving you the leniency to get 1 out of every 4 marks wrong, but still giving you the opportunity to get an A*. 3/4 marks correct seems easy.

Edit: If a friend of a friend () got 100% UMS on B1, and thought they had done averagely well on the other two, do you think that particular person would be likely to get a * ?

Basically guys the thing with me is that i did ALL the modules for Biology this year - B1, 2 and 3, Unlike most of you, i presume, who did B1 last year...
However, I have done the ISA and got 82.5% on that...
I'm predicting the following:

B1 = 27/45 ---> 60%
B2 = 28/45 ---> 62%
B3 = 24/45 ---> 53%

With these percentages over the 3 modules...and with 82.5% in the ISA,
would that mean that I will ultimately get 64.375% Overall?

(Average of 3 mods and ISA) ---> i.e. 60% + 62% + 53% + 82.5% / 4

And what will that be as a grade??
Can someone pleaseeee confirm this..
Btw do bear in mind that the mods and ISA contribute 25% of the final mark each..
Thankss

And guys sorry for sounding hasty, but ARE YOU SURE that for B2 and B3, the grade boundaries change - so not 90% for A*

Using the January 08 grade boundaries (which will of course be slightly different for June)

I presume you did the higher tier written paper for each module.

B1, 28/45 was what you needed for an A* so 27 was probably 88UMS.
B2, 27/45 was an A 32 an A* so 28 was probably 82UMS.
B3, 24 was an A = 80 UMS.
ISA: I'd say 33/40 was a high A, say 88UMS but I'm not sure.

That makes 338/400 which is a middle A. But of course, you could have done much better than your predictions or worse in the exams so this is all a bit irrelevant.

Dudette, not dude. And as many people have said on this thread 70 for a B is UMS not percentages. And working out your overall percentage isn't useful because 64% could be an A* for some papers or a B/C for others.

So guys....

from which mark in each paper do you think students will start getting 100UMS if in one year 28/45 was an A*?
