Are they vegetarian? If they are then they're halal

Why wouldn't they be? It's just chocolate and icecream?

'Currently none of our Magnum ice cream products are Halal certified. However, we do work with the GMWA, supplying product information to them, in order for the GMWA to determine whether our products can be consumed by Muslims. This is purely the opinion of the GMWA and not the opinion of Unilever UK and Ireland. We hope that by working with the GMWA Muslim consumers can make an informed decision about our products.'
^from the Magnum website^
'I called Walls to check if Magnum, Cornetto or Vienetta were suitable for Vegetarians or not. The CSR told me that all Walls ice-creams (except Ben & Jerry's) are not suitable for vegetarians as they use whey powder from a cheese supplier or from calf rennet.'
^found this on an online forum^
decide for yourself
hope this helps!

Even though it’s seems pure vegetarian but for your peace of mind, you may contact them

And I must say whoever found it funny......it’s rude!

Magnum have brought out a new line of vegan magnums, try them - they're almost as good as the normal almond ones, my mum thinks they're nicer

As of relatively up to date emails I personally sent and received from UniLever in 2018, most Magnum icecreams contain whey derived from cheese production from calf renet* as mentioned by someone above. However, they did specify that the classic icecream was suitable for vegetarians (which would thus make it categorically Halal).

*The use of calf rennet from non-Halal slaughtered animals is generally Haram unless the animal was slaughtered by Ahlul Kitab (Christians or Jews) - it is very very unlikely that you will be able to source the information of where the calves came from, and where the slaughter house was, so we abstain from it as a doubtful matter.

There is a seperate discussion Muslims used to have a while back (I don't know if they still do because frankly it is silly in my opinion) regarding the use of trace amounts of types of alcohol in making it - this is permissible, though it is not to be confused with the ruling for cooking with wines, etc. You can go into the technicalities on IslamQA if you wish to understand the difference but I have summarised here that there is no issue at all with Magnum in this regard.

TL;DR: Classic Magnum and White Magnum should be Halal but it is best to avoid the rest.
