Just received a phone call off my landline.

It was automated and was in an American voice. It basically said 'you have won an all inclusive holiday to Florida. Press 9 for more information'. I just ignored it and eventually the line went dead.

Should I report this or is it normal to receive calls like this?

Think it's pretty normal, we've had it at least once before.

I received a similar call about an hour ago. I pressed 9, keen to claim my holiday, but I think I'm still on hold. Obviously there have been a lot of lucky winners recently.

Isn't it a scam whereby pressing 9 you are agreeing to accept a reverse charge call and then they charge you £3 a minute

I've had a few of these recently. So annoying. I pick up and they take about 30 seconds for the recording to start. And it's always a loud American voice. Just ignore them I guess and hang up.

haha there was someone the other day trying to sell me their services for reclaiming bank charges. All you have to do is write a letter, I'm quite capable of doing it myself!

"You have won a three-day, two-night all inclusive stay in the Bahamas!" is what we usually get. I take great delight in picking up and then just leaving the phone so it costs them monies

You're bringing back horrible memories!
I once got a call like this. I'm pretty sure it was initially automated, so I just hung up on it. Five minutes later I went to make a call, and noticed no dial tone. Then all I heard was "Hellooo??!?" from the same voice that I'm SURE was initially automated. I had an absolute **** fit and just hung up and ripped the phone line out.

End.

These calls are big scams. Once you press 9 the charges get reversed and therefore you get charged premium phone call rates.

We've been getting alot of these recently, even though we're on a thing to stop us from getting them.
