I have this weird mark on my skin just below my armpit/side of my chest. Its doesn't itch or hurt or anything. Its just got a slighty rougher texture. Its slighty darker than whats on the picture (in the spoiler tab)

Does anyone know what it could be.

Thanks for the reply.
Forgot to say that theres another smaller patch on the side of my belly so could it still be due to deodrant. I've been using the same deodrant for ages now and its never happened before. Scrubbing doesnt do anything apart from making it slighty red.

A dermatomycosis? I suck at skin... why don't you go and see your GP? They are usually very good at skin and you have a problem you're clearly concerned about.

Looks like ordinary discolouration to me.

Shouldn't cause any harm, but probably a good idea to see a dermatologist to be sure.

have you been in the sun a lot recently?
sometimes you can have a sort of pigmentation (spelling? ) which you can't see when your skin isn't tanned but when you get a bit of a colour it comes out.
i have small ones between my boobs and on my cheek (luckily the one on my cheek i can easily cover with make up).
they look a bit like birthmarks and some people's go lighter in the sun and other's go darker.

however, if you haven't been in the sun then this point is completely invalid lol

I dont think its harmful. My dad has something like that and it goes eventually as he applies medication. Better check a skin specialist

The thing is you said it has a rougher texture and does not itch or hurt so it could simply just be dry skin that will eventually clear up, but obviously the best option would be to see a GP, does it feel dry? Have you tried moisturising?

It looks a bit like something I have which is to do with the pigment in the skin. I went to the doc and he said it was something like pityriasis versicolour (not sure if Ive spelled that right)
Try going to the pharmacist if you can't see the doctor for a while, it will surely put your mind at rest

My friend gets something similar to that occassionally. It seems to come and go. She has a small allergic reaction to something which the doctors haven't yet diagnosed and they said it might have something to do with that. It doesn't hurt or itch but it's just there sometimes... and then it goes...

Thank you everyone. :hugs:
You have helped put my mind at ease (seems like it's not serious and just a skin condition) whilst I wait for my doctors appointment (It is in a weeks time).

It may be a birthmark which has become more pronounced if you have been in the sun and had a tan?

Hey,
I have the exact same rash in both my armpits as well as on my stomach, I was wondering what the doctor told you and how you got rid of it, it has been concerning me for quite some time now and it would be comforting to know how you got rid of it. Please let me know how things went for you.

Thanks!
