Margaret Thatcher

I no longer view her in god like terms as I once did but she freed the market from the shackles of the state and ushered in a new age of aspiration that is only now four decades on starting to dwindle.

The right to buy was divine.

Nelson Mandela before he comes a politician in South Africa. Fighting for the blacks in apartheid time when injustice was a part of the South African law and racism a normal thing in everyday life. I liked his courageous appearance and he got my respect that he was sent to prison for almost 30 years just to demand the equal rights for the black people.

I like her... but the right to buy is divine?

People always had the right to buy their council properties just not heavily discounted.
The reason she done it was due to the miners.

Before when miners went on strike they rented their property so the council couldn't kick them out and had to support them.
After right to buy and they brought their property if they went on strike the banks would kick em out if they didn't pay their mortgage. So many miner's couldn't strike.

Politically a very astute move. Although you could argue that it's had a negative impact in the long run.

Easy for a Tory government to sell off social housing not so easy for a Tory government to replace it.

Rory Stewart.

I love the way he speaks: always with thought, sincerity and integrity. I think everything you want from someone involved in governing.

JRM is someone who is an amazing representative for our country. Quick wit, inspirational eloquence and in-depth knowledge on parliamentary conduct are some of the defining features that make him my political idol
