well if you compared the iPhone and someone with 8meg broadband, the iPhone is absymal.
if you compare the iPhone 3G and 8 meg broadband, depending on where you are with the iPhone, you can get pretty good 'net speed.

I don't use my iphone, outside of the wireless netwrik, as it's not very quick. However, on Wi-Fi, it is very fast.

On the Wifi it's very fast - you won't notice a significant difference to using a computer. On EDGE it's much slower though...

On WiFi networks, the page loading speed is slower than a computer on the same network, but it's still fairly decent. 3G (if available is about 2/3rds of the speed of a decent Broadband connection outside of a city, but once again the actual iPhone (and it's browser) slows things down again.

On London area trains, sure, but not on most trains across the country by any means. Otherwise there'll be WiFi in café chains (Starbucks, Costa Coffee for example), in the pedestrianised shopping streets of busy city centres and other places that have a lot of people. They're rarely free though.

There's no mention of it on their website, searching for "Wifi" or "wireless" brings up nothing.

Usage is unlimited, you don't pay an extra penny for using the internet.

Unlimited WIFI usage comes with The Cloud, and also, from July 11th, will be expanded to include BT Openzone hotspots too.
