Which microscope would you use to look at a pollen grain?
Optical microscope, scanning electron microscope or transmission electron microscope. And why?

you could use

TEM - if you want a cross sectional scan - you need thin slice
SEM - if you want it of the surface of the pollen grain
Optical - if you want cross section - you need thin slice

TEM better than optical because higher resolution & higher magnification
Thank you so much. And one more question, which microscope would you use to look at the stages of mitosis in a root cell?

optical
Sorry, I forgot to mention that it is a pollen grain surface, so it would require a scanning electron microscope.

Optical because the root cells are thin (because you squash it) so light can penetrate.

no need to use SEM or TEM because they are expensive and not portable
Thank you!
