I really like artists like Buena Vista Social Club and Rodrigo y Gabriela. Anyone have any other similar recommendations?

Gracias!

I was going to make a thread on the same exact thing, considering I don't really have much in the way of Flamenco, Rumba, and Samba on my laptop.

Best I can give you would be Gipsy Kings. Bit 'well known', but who cares; it's a good bit of Rumba Gitana.

If you're really open-minded, try Ojos de Brujo. It's a Barcelona-based flamenco-fusion group, that takes a sort of hip-hop approach to it, but the guitars are still there.

Go see Zorro the musical in the West End.
It's Gypsy Kings music and lots of flamenco.
Its faaaaaab.

I love latin music, but more pop and rock than the "classic" stuff.

Currently, I can't stop listening to Guajira- by Yerba Buena. Check it out, if you already haven't. More like latin hip hop.

'De nada', as the Hispanophones would say. I was lucky to stumble over them myself. :p:

I adore Buena Vista Social Club! Brilliant. Do you have all their albums? Gipsy Kings, great band. Randomly found out last week that they are French, not Spanish. Strange.

Anyway, you may like -

Ibrahim Ferrer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAqoqiNl5io)
Afro-cuban jazz project (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYQNK4o1CL0)
Tito Puente - (http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...+puente%2C+mam)
Pete Rodriguez (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU8Yesm6sAc)

Hope you enjoy!

Best bet - go to last.fm and listen to the most popular tunes for each artist.

Also--BVSC are unparalleled in their greatness. Also try Putumayo Presents compilations of Latin/Cuban music for more suggestions.
