for the sciences; i.e. criminology?

also what are the worst places to go for a social science degree?

Best and worst are entirely subjective. What do you actually mean?

Criminology is a Socisl Sciance, not a Sciance.
You should really be looking at course content, If one tickles your fancy then go for there.

What do you mean by "good"? I think Durham is a good university for philosophy, another philosophy student may not rate it (although very, very few :p: ). They may see it as a "bad" university. We all look for different things.

Doesn't mant it's a "good" university though. You may think I'm being awkawrd but I'm really not trying to be. If you're really interested in finding which unis are rated highly then uni rankings can provde some idea. But highly ranked unis aren't necessarily "good" for all.

If the OP had said which are well respected or specific questions about teaching methods then it would be a bit more meaningful.

Why don't you just do some ''Independent research'' and find out which Universities do Criminology. Not every student on TSR is going to know which Uni's provide the Criminology degree!? . . .

UCAS is a good starting block!!!!

most of the unis you listed dont do criminology.
southampton does as an applied social science-criminology.
portsmouth has the largest criminology department in the UK
