Building surveyor vs building services engineerWatch
A Building Services Engineer- designs and implements the services in the building and only the services- so this would be electrical, water, heat, air con, lighting. You will usually specialise in either mechanical or electrical. Usually you will need a levels in maths and physics as the installation and creation of teh above is very mathematical.
A building surveyor (my uncle is one) if they were working on a commercial refurbishment or remodelling project could engage the services of a Building Services Engineer. The surveyor would instruct them of what was needed and the Engineer would design it.
Building surveyors work on lots of things they project manage both commercial and residential construction/refurbishment/rennovations. They look at building construction, design, defects, pathology, rennovations, refurbishments, conserving historic buildings. They can provide asset management and deal with administering contracts.
