I think that in my opinion the American band the Rain Parade are one of the most underrated indie bands of the early-mid 80s. They were a major influence on the Stone Roses and released two studio LPs and an EP during their pre-breakup years, and one of their founding members later became the frontman of Mazzy Star in the early 90s.

I have an original 12" copy their 1984 EP Explosions In The Glass Palace and it's one of my most played analogue records - I've listened to it at least 500 times (with a lightweight stylus) and it sounded pretty worn already when I bought it.

If you haven't heard of them, these are their best songs in my opinion:

*This Can't Be Today
*You Are My Friend
*Invisible People
*Depending On You
*Talking In My Sleep
*Mystic Green
