I currently have a place at Kings College London to study English Literature. I deferred my entry so I’m on a gap year right now

I’ve been having some second thoughts and have been thinking of changing my degree to architecture which I know I’d enjoy more - only problem got BBB in English, History and Politics, but I do have strong artistic and mathematical ability. I don’t know whether I should risk my place at Kings, where I know I probably wouldn’t have gotten into if I didn’t get an unconditional.

Plus I don’t really know what I want to do after university and don’t intend to complete the full 7 year course to become a registered architect - although it would be nice to fall back on or even complete later on in life. Ideally I’d probably want to do fashion journalism or something like that and I feel like living in London will provide some really good opportunities especially in the fashion industry

Sorry for this long ass life story but I’d really appreciate any advice because I don’t really know what I’m doing and have been mulling over this for some time. Also I could maybe change to architecture after a few weeks if I really don’t see myself completing a 3 year course in English. Anyways thanks for reading all this

If you want to do fashion journalism then why not take a fashion journalism degree? Especially if you’re getting skittish at the idea of studying something unrelated.

English is more relevant to journalism than Architecture and more likely to help get you a job in the industry you say you ideally want to work in. I can't see why you want to switch to Architecture at this stage, given that you say you don't want to complete the training

If you are having doubts about the course at Kings look around for alternatives but if you want to work in journalism it would make more sense to switch to a Journalism degree or combined English Literature with Journalism.
