when you're given information about multiple reactants, you firstly need to find out which one is the LR to go on and answer the question.
very first thing is to write out a balanced equation for the reaction:
Mg + Br2 --> MgBr2
now work out the number of moles of Mg and Br2
n(Mg) = 1/24.3 = 0.0412 mol
n(Br2) = 5/159.8 = 0.0313 mol
find the reaction ratios from the equation:
Mg:Br2 = 1:1
normally you'd then divide the moles by the respective ratio value, but since it's in a 1:1 ratio you already know that the smallest value will be the one to run out first which In this case, the LR is Br2.
Use the Molar value of Br2 and the Mr of MgBr2 to find the maximum mass of MgBr2 that can be produced:
0.0313 x 184.1 = 5.76 grams. however this answer is probably 1/2 grams +/- since I rounded off my molar values..
