Half A BTEC?

I want to do BTEC National Certificate in Performing Arts next year (year 12), but I think I will leave after one year of doing sixth form. As I know I will want to start earning money. I been thinking about doing a NVQ in travel & tourism after that. But when I get my AS level results, will I get a result for PErforming Arts and is it seen as a qualification? IF that makes sense. Basically I'll be doing hte course for only one year, not two.

I think you'll get something like a First Diploma in Performing as its half of the National Certificate.

Personally if I was in your shoes, I would finish the course (it'll look much better on your CV) or study travel and tourism.

As far as the research that I've done, not all BTECs are 2 yrs the national awards are one yr courses.
Hope that's helpful.

If you sign up for a two year course, you will get nothing for dropping out after a year.

Hmmm - when I did BTEC 2 girls from my class dropped out - when I asked the teacher will they still get awarded for it, he said ''yes, but only a First Diploma''. . . .

We were told you get nothing. =/

I suppose it depends on the level and how it compares to the other courses. =/ Like if you do the units for the BTEC and the First in year one, and then go onto BTEC-Only units in the second, you might get a First award. But you miss one unit out, or the college change the order, I don't suppose you'd get anything.

Oooooo, prob varies from place to place from the sounds of it. . . .tad odd. Should be kept the same across all schools/colleges.

You will get a third of the grade, 2 years = 3 grades, 1 year = 1 grade. I know two guys dropping out of my course and they're only getting 1 grade, it's a certificate. Pass, merit or distinction.

you get the btec national award which is the equivelant of one alevel

that's not true, i literally dropped out after 1 year on my previous course and still got a certificate.i believe each course is different. on the one i was on, the second year was only achievable if the lecturers thought you were good enough for the second year. i dropped out before year 2 and still received half a diploma.
