A year in Europe - Uppsala, Leiden or Leuven??

Basically, I'm doing a law degree at Kings, but have the opportunity to move onto the Law with European Legal Studies LLB next year. I have to choose out of Uppsala (Sweden), Leiden (Netherlands) or Leuven (Belgium) to study at for a year. Which one would people recommend??

Any personal experiences of the universities, or the towns themselves, would be a great help. Probably most important for me is the reputation of the university in question, but I recognise the importance of other criteria. Does anyone know how I could rate these universities by reputation?

Please bear in mind I want the most reputable for LAW.

To be honest, we havent heard anything about that yet - or Columbia State - though I will be applying to both of these when they come up.

Uppsala is an excellent University, but I only know it's reputation for sciences.

Belgium has good chips and fruit beer - but i supose that's not really a good basis for picking a uni.

But there again there is the chocolate .................... go to Belgium.

I've been to Brussells and experienced all of that. I thought Brussells pretty wonderful, much to the disagreement of the people who went with me. You're right - good chocolate, and a hell of a lotta beer...nice beer.

Swedish universities are supposed to have a good reputation in general i believe? I think i recall sweden doing quite well in international rankings relative to its size.

Leuven is a beautiful beautiful place, and it is an excellent university. Its the top one in Belgium.

The campus has loads of old buildings, its really big too, I reckon it'd be an amazing place to spend a bit of time. Plus they all speak really good english in Belgium, and Belgian people are lovely!

uppsala is supposed to be a real friendly city with lots of students. it's pretty close to the capital (stockholm) aswell.

Go for the swedish one or Leiden... when i first went to Leiden i really wanted to apply there just because it is so beautiful. has a great atmosphere full of student life and a good reputation.
