Hello, thought I'd create a post as I couldn't find one for this year's graduate scheme - I'm applying for Environmental Consultancy and have got through the initial screening and online tests - still waiting to hear if I'm through to the next stage almost 1 month on! Anyone else still waiting?

Hi,yes the thread is really helpful. I am thinking about applying.

What was the online test process like ? Numerical ? SJT ?

How long ago did you apply ?

Hey Whilerissleep, thanks for creating this thread - I've been stalking the ones for previous years for ages! I have also applied for a consultancy role and I'm in a similar position to you - waiting to hear if I've made it to an AC. I believe we will hear back within a couple of weeks of the deadline (15/11/19 for many grad roles AKA today) once they have reviewed all applications, taking us to 29/11/19 at the latest. Wishing you all the best - hopefully we can keep each other updated

Hey 2020grad, here's a timeline of my current application timeline: submitted application late Oct - invited to take a Situational Judgement Questionnaire (SJQ) a day later - four days later: informed that my application will be passed on to hiring team for consideration - ten days later/today once again told the same thing in a slightly differently worded email, although this may have been a glitch...

Hey, how did you find the SJQ? I've never done any before and I really want the role I've applied for at Arup but I'm really worried as they're my first ever attempt!

Hi! Honestly, the SJQ was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Whilst I don't know my exact score, I usually dread such tests yet seemingly got through!

I suggest you practise some free online situational judgement tests (SJT) to get a feel of the format. Additionally, get familiar with the values of the company and your team's role. From what I have read, there are no template answers/hacks for every SJT. Whilst presented scenarios can be similar, solutions are slightly tweaked for each company and their principles/expectations. Having said that, many scenarios seem to have a 'well, obviously not' answer which can be assuring as you get marked on your 'least likely' response.

Think through your answers, give it your best shot, but don't lose sleep over taking the test - it's not worth the anxiety of the lead up. Best of luck!

I purposefully didn't apply, I got a hunch there will be more available in January which suit me better.

No, I didn't have any telephone interview! And thanks!

Yes, the assessment centre is on the 18th; I completed the SJT ages ago, but I was invited only today, so probably they are still sending the emails.

Does Arup send out rejection emails? First time applying. If I haven't gotten an invitation to the assessment centre yet should I assume I haven't gotten through? (got to test questions, applied for the ecology scheme).

Hey,

No idea, but I guess if you received an email stating that your application were impressive and it has been passed to Hiring Teams, then just wait. I got this email after 2-3 days I passed the test.

Hey guys,

I applied for a graduate role and got through the SJT test and have been asked to answer a question over email for them during this weekend.

They said this will help them filter and finalise their shortlists. Any idea how long this graduate scheme is for? I don't remember it saying when I first applied. Anyone know if this is a permanent position with Arup? I've read some where that its for 2 years? Maybe I'm wrong.

Btw I applied for the Graduate Architectural Assistant position

I also don’t remember how long it was, nor how much the salary was (apart from it being “competitive”). I assume it’s 2 years but I’m also not sure 😅

yeah I remember it just saying 'competitive' and I read on their website that there is a welcome bonus (£2,500 I believe) which is pretty sweet, not sure if thats for the graduate role though. Ok cool, 2 years isn't so bad
