Would it be August as that's when I had my results or the month when I sat the last exam for to complete that qualification?

If it's British A-levels, it's June.

It doesn't matter whether you put June (when you sat the exams) or August (when you got the results), as long as it's clear which exam cycle you took them in.

My kids have always put 1st June for every GCSE, AS level and A level they ever took, just so the unis know they were taken in the summer cycle.

I would agree with Sinnoh.
Just be consistent. I might have even just put Summer then the year.
