Feeling constantly bored/trapped at university Watch

In my first year of uni and it’s only been 2 months but I’m already so bored.
Got basically no friends as I only really go clubbing with the people I know, if I’m not sleeping, eating or studying I’m just always in my room doing nothing.
Don’t think I’ve ever been so bored in my life. I can’t really change uni as I got lucky getting into my current one as I didn’t active the grades so would have to go to a uni I don’t like. I just feel very trapped here and I’m not sure what to do.

I feel exactly the same, OP. No friends yet and I only go clubbing if it's with my society. I get so bored, especially at the weekend as I have a lot of free time. I went for a walk the other day and into the city centre by myself yesterday because I was sick of being in my room doing nothing. Didn't think uni would be like this not going to lie.

Sounds like the small amount of friends you do have, are just boring asf lmao. Find some friends that know how to have fun and actually go out. I couldn’t deal with friends who don’t do anything outside of classes

You may have to find a job or volunteer or find group of people who like what you like and do the activity (ies) together.

I feel like unless you're really extroverted or good at socialising then uni is a pretty s*** place socially, because it's incredibly difficult to make real connections with people, unlike in school or in a workplace where you're forced into regular contact with the same people and make friends as a result.

I mean I feel like at this point it’s gonna be pretty hard to make new friends as everyone seems to be settled into uni in their groups. Tbh everyone I’ve met is so boring like idk where else to look for mates, everyone in my societies and classes are dead af and so are my flat mates.
I’ve gone from having a really good social life to having an absolutely **** one, in 6th form I used to go clubbing at least once a week with my mates and now I’ve barely gone out since freshers.

The thing is though everyone in my classes etc are very boring and I don’t get on well with anyone like barely anyone like going on a night out and if we do it’s music that I hate.

Yeah I get ya. I’d say I’ve made about 5/6 friends and there’s only two that actually go out 😂😭. Tbh even one is enough so you could try for some new friends I guess?? I made all my friends on my course, I commute so it was even harder ffs. Everyone says join societies but I haven’t made any through them, probably coz I haven’t been but yeah 😂

I was the same at the start of uni, but I joined a few societies and have made a ton of new friends as a result! Doesn't hurt to talk to the person you sit next to in lectures too

why is not wanting to go clubbing being portrayed as a bad thing? i can understand that that's what you want but people have different likes and interests, it doesn't mean one is better than the other and that those who don't want to go clubbing are 'boring'
