looks like they are just brushing this incident under the carpet. Someone should report the assault to the police.

I don't get why he was removed but using race as a way to gain publicity or claiming that race had played a part when there is no evidence to support that seems wrong

Still kinda gross

Also not Oxford university btw
Also get a job with someone like the daily mail or actually no the guardian cause you are great at making tabloid titles haha

Other students didn't help him or protest either. Unbelievable

Well said. As is often the case, the article shows that we do not have anything like enough information to make a judgement one way or the other. (Although I can say, as someone who knows Brendan, that he definitely isn't a racist!)

Why such a racially charged and misleading title?

Not the university as mentioned before.

Interpreting the title literally and obtusely - obviously they have kicked out black people out of the university in the past for various reasons.

The fact he was disabled is more relevant than the fact he was black. In fact - the fact he was black holds no relevance to the story.

If you had read the article you posted:

Oxford University said: 'The Oxford Union is an independent society. The university has no control over its events.'

Because the person is either very dim or a troll.

Anyone who reads the article sees they do not explain why he was asked to leave and why he refused.

No, it wasn't. It was the Oxford Union - an independent debating society.

Are you allowed to reserve a seat by placing a book on it? His race is irrelevant and this thread should be binned because of the clickbait title.

So it’s independent from the uni. Then the uni shouldn’t be dragged into it?

However the Oxford Union Society occupies the Frewin Court buildings by the grace and favour of the building’s owners, the Oxford Literary and Debating Union Charitable Trust. The Trustees of the Charity include the Dean of Christ Church and so the University is implicated in what occurred. So is the Government, because another of the Trustees is the Lord President of the Council.

As unpalatable as tossing a blind person out of a room is i fail to see how his race is a factor in this, except for the fact he made it about race?

No doubt this will end with the standard "We have spoken to our security provider and they will be retrained" kind of bull****.

This is a pretty one-sided story, sourced from only one side of the argument. There is a lot more heat than light. It fails to address the obvious questions:

Why did he feel the need to mentioin his disability and skin colour? Is either relevant to what happened?

Why did he get kicked out? Perhaps he had transgressed by not being entitled to be there, or by trying to bag a seat in a special area, or by insulting or striking the chairman or his neighbour.

Why did nobody defend him? Was it because there was good reason to eject him and all present knew that? We are dealing largely with woke students, after all, not nasty baby-boomers.
