Word limit

200 words over limit for my first essay. Any good ways to cut down? Finding it difficult as I want to keep all my points .

depends what sort of essay this is - any weaker points you could get rid of? or use contractions

My Uni has a +/- 10% policy so you may be ok, check your regulations.

Contractions aren't academic so could lose marks

Trimming away redundant words while keeping the main thrust of an argument is a bit of an art form, keep reading through from start to finish, looking at how to cut out redundancy, its one of those things you need to practice to get good at.
