I don’t understand how you are meant to know which step is the slowest or fastest. Can anyone help?

It says:
A + B = AB
AB + B = AB^2
AB^2 + B = AB^3

How do you know which step would be rate determining generally?

Are A and B atoms or can they be any compounds? Do you have any other information in the question or from previous question?
