When it comes to exercise, aerobic exercise uses fats and carbohydrates with a majority of fats. However, when exercise becomes more vigorous, carbohydrates found in the muscles (muscle glycogen) will be used instead of fats, as carbs can provide that "fast and efficient energy". However its limited and takes time for it to be replenished. Hence why its not used 24/7.
the majority of the time, its a mix of fat and carbohydrate oxidation. It really depends on the person is doing at the time, which determines which energy system they use
