Study Abroad?

Hi, I'm looking at various places where I can study modern languages part-time, due to me having a medical condition, and Chester seems like a good option
However, due to my condition I wouldn't be able to do a study abroad year, and on the website it doesn't say that there's an option to opt out of doing one. Have there been cases before of students being exempt from doing it/doing a normal 3 year (or 6 year in my case) course instead? Or should I look elsewhere?
Thanks!

Hi

It is great to hear that you are interested in studying at university.

I would recommend emailing the university and asking them this question directly. They will be able to best advise you on the next steps and what is best for you.

Hope this helps

Hi there! Sorry for our delay in getting back to you, we just wanted to make sure we gave you the most information possible regarding this! You can undertake the BA Modern Languages and not do a Year Abroad it’s possible for students to exempt from year abroad placements on medical grounds, which sounds like it would be the case here. Students who have their exemption approved need to submit instead two target-language projects at the beginning of their final year of study.

Are you interested in the triple languages programme (BA Modern Languages), or interested in studying some form of single or combined language course? Either way, the same rules apply and it's possible to apply for exemption on all of our programmes.

Dr Anna Clayfield from the Department of Modern Languages would be happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions. Her email address is: [email protected]
