Phlebotomy Certificate of Competence

Hey guys. Recently I have been told by the GP Practice I am working at that they will pay for me to do a phlebotomy course and eventually become one and join the team. However I need both the Certificate of Attendance and Certificate of Competence. I will train within the practice, so that is not an issue. The main question is can anyone advise me on any good places I can go and get both certificates?

Thank you

I’m a phlebotomist, we train new staff from scratch in the hospital and they attend a venepuncture study day first. They the gain competency with us and once they have done 10 bleeds they can get a certificate to allow them to bleed patients in our trust. We still have them training with us until we feel they can do a ward round on their own. We don’t accept anyone for our vacancies that have done these phlebotomy courses, I don’t think any hospitals fo . You are better off ringing the phlebotomists in your local hospital for advice . Good luck !

That's fantastic news!

It's great to hear that your GP practice is supporting your professional development by offering to fund your phlebotomy training.

To obtain both the Certificate of Attendance and the Certificate of Competence, you'll need to complete a comprehensive training program that includes both theoretical and practical components.

Here are some reputable training providers in the UK that offer these qualifications:

Recommended Phlebotomy Training Providers ( I mostly can trust )

Lead Academy (Various Locations)

Course Details: Offers a CPD-accredited course with both online and face-to-face components, leading to a Certificate of Competence.

Locations: Available in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Swindon, and Cardiff.

Also Phlebotomy Training Institute. Same same but different. But Still same.
