Law VS Psychology with Criminology at Uni

Hey guys. Hope you’re all doing well. Just wanted to get any information about either of these subjects and what they entail. If anyone is studying these at university, what are they like and which would you say is harder? Also if you have any tips on how to prepare for them, that would be great.

Thanks in advance x
Very different disciplines. Criminology is pretty much a traditional social science - this is the subject, these are the theories, these are the models.

Law is for the most part about learning the key statutes and/or common law attached to a particular subject and then being asked to either solve scenario problems, or elucidate a partucular conflict.argument in that area.

For example-

A popular criminology module is probably policing - it would be about the models of policing, how it came about, different types and the relationships between law enforcement and society. An essay question might be about policing by consent, or the social effects of stop & search vs the crime prevention value.

A law module like Family Law will probably cover marriage, divorce, cohabiting, same-sex marriage, domestic abuse and child law/adoption. You'd learn the key statutes and as much of the case law as you can stomach. An essay question might be "cohabitants should receive the same legal protections as married couples. discuss". A problem question might give you a scenario where Bob is married but seperated, has a new gay lover who sometimes stays over and Bob is also in business with his brother, Ted. Bob's ex-wife starts sending him threatening letters, his boyfriend burns him with cigarettes as part of sex games, and his brother punches him in a dispute over a tax return. Discuss Bob's redress in these situations.
