True I think back in 2010 he said he had a terminal illness so he has done well to last this long.

Ten years with terminal cancer to bow out at 80 is an exceptional feat. It sounds as though he had as 'good' a death as any of us can hope for, which is a degree of light in the darkness for his family, I expect. A real loss.
