You don't need a prescription. They are expensive though and probably don't work.

I do have willpower and I do a lot of exercise, don't make assumptions. :p:

I'm partly just asking because I'm curious, and I know someone who has just started taking them so it got me thinking about them, that's all.
you can get herbal ones in holland and barrett
There are several different 'anti-obesity drugs' that are available on prescription. One well known drug is called Orlistat which is given to morbidly obese people. It stops the body from absorbing fat, so it is excreted though the faeces. It's a horrendous drug and is known to cause faecal incontinance. Not a pretty sight, I imagine.

Others are appetite supressants, such as speed or amphetamine based drugs.

None of which are actually a good idea in the long term. A healthy diet and exercise regime is the only truly healthy option.

If you have willpower you don't need them. If you are going to take them look for ephedrine free ones....

i tried diet pills they were called hoodia i ordered the from the internet, they didnt work for me though =[ no nasty side effects though X
I am addicted to them...it is not a good position to be in, better to exercise more.
You don't need a prescription from a doctor, however I'd recommend asking him/her whether they'd be okay for you.

Some people do get sides such as insomnia and other things, but generally I don't think they cause long term harm. I used to take 'em and they DID work. Amazingly infact. I didn't get any sides.

If you do decide to take them, I'd suggest Lipo 6/x or Hydroxycut Hardcore. (from Bodybuilding.com).

They do different things, such as supressing your appetite or stopping your body from storing as much fat.

My mum has some from the doctor (reductil) and so far she has lost half a stone in three weeks.

I used to take EPH+25 ( i think that's what they were called).
They were made up of ephedrine, caffeine, and a few other things. Im not entirely sure what they did but i know they were designed to speed up your heart rate so that everything works more quickly thus burning more calories.
They worked well for me, though i still crave them to this day ( and i havent taken them for a long while).
I wouldn't recomment them though, as they made my mother and grandmother pretty ill, and i think ephedrine may be illegal!:s-smilie:
They work in a variety of different ways depending on the type of med it is, and that also determines whether they are prescription drugs or not.

Here comes a lecture, even though you didnt ask for one OP; nothing will substitute good diet and a sustainable exercise plan, it requires determination and patience but IMO there is no other subsitute for it.

It's ridiculously hard to find legit hoodia though as most hoodia is fake, I read an interesting article about it:

There are a few more kicking about that site. It's a useful forum to talk to health experts about different things and fellow health addicts.

Whoever said diet pills are expensive, that's not true.
You can get 100 for £12. (Take 3 a day)
They help speed up weight loss, generally by supressing the appetite, speeding up metabolism and helping the breakdown/burning of fat.

PM me if you want to know where to buy some.
I know a guy who takes his one little green pill a day, and he's losing quite a bit of weight. His work by speeding up the metabolism so it all burns up faster. Not sure what they are though, and I'm not sure of the side effects. Helpful post? :p:
i was gonna take them. but didn't. i heard of someone who started taking them was found dead the next morning
