Spot on vagina lip...

[Please keep anon as I am not comfortable asking about this in the open - hence why I am asking here rather than a friend in person etc. Thanks.]

In the shower this morning I noticed a lump/spot on the inner lip of my vagina. It is really painful to touch / when it has pressure applied due to clothing etc.

I am not sexually active and hence am 99.99% it isn't an STI or related to such.

I've recently moved doctors to a centre with four elderly male doctors. Although I know they must be asked such things and that I shouldn't be embarrassed to do so, I am. Especially as I have not been to see them at all yet regarding any matter.

The spot cannot have been there before today/last night (I'd have noticed given how uncomfortable it is) and appears to be an isolated occurance.

 I am just wondering whether this will 'sort itself out' or whether it is a real cause for concern. Also, has anyone had anything similar (and what did you do)? I know this is very early to post as it may go away as quickly as it came but reassurance would be great lol. :s-smilie:

Thanks.
It may just be a sebacious cyst which are quite common. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to get bigger, harder or more painful and then a trip to the doc may be in order.

it sounds like a little cyst, nothing to be concerned about,so give it a few days-it'll prob have gone by then; leave it and don't do anything to irritate it. After that if it's not gone, you could always book an appointment with another surgery and ask for a young/female gp.

Okay. Thank you for the quick reply.

I used to panic when I heard the word 'cyst' as my mother had a cancerous cyst a few years ago but then I was told I had PCOS so I know that many are nothing to worry about.

I am a bit run down at the moment - suffering from continual illness - so maybe it is a part of being run down. If it does get bigger etc though I will try to get an appointment with the nurse or something.

It could be just a normal spot.
Therefore you can try pop it (but that could be painful) or just leave it and the body will eventually absorb it.

I wondered whether you could get spots down there like you do elsewhere. I suppose it is logical that you can. I have more spots on my face this week than I've had in the past 5 years combined (cause I've not been well I think) so if it is just that, extended southwards, I guess I shouldn't worry. Will just have to try to avoid walking so much until it goes away (I walked about 4 miles today in total - hence the discomfort lol).

Thank you all the posters. I feel silly for worrying about it but better to be safe than sorry I guess...

Yeah you can get 'normal spots' anywhere on the skin really.

Don't feel silly!
Yeah, occassionally I get a zit down there.

Ewww.

And yes, I usually pop 'em.

Ewwww.

Make sure you've got clean breathey underwear and suchlike on, change it if it gets a bit damp/sweaty. It'll probs be fine.

Still there in a fortnight? Doctorrr.

Yeah you can get 'normal' things there too! I actually have a mole on one of the inner lips  Freaked me a little when I found it, since owing to the darker tone of skin anyway, it's a bit darker than my normal ones. But it's been there for years, never moved, I've been screened etc, and I'm not dying. So! Just a mole.

Hi. I have noticed I have got the exact same problem I'm only 13. I've never had sex either, I have had it for a few weeks now. If you hear anything to help please could you email at [Removed - please use PMs or post here directly]
Thanks!
I'm 16 and have this problem, I'm not sexually active and don't know what It could be... Can someone help me please?
It is probably a blocked/infected follicle, similar to a spot elsewhere.

These can (rarely) develop into an abscess in which case you would need to go to a doctor. An abscess will be hot and red, exquisitely tender (can't touch), and might cause you to feel unwell with a temperature.

You may want to bathe the area gently with salt water or disinfectant.

EDIT: wow, zombie thread - still, for the person who just posted
