Do I really have to revise often in my first year of college? Watch

My teachers always harp on about how I should do 4 hours of revision a week (I don't remember if that's per subject or in total) but I'm literally only in the second term of my first year, and I don't think I'm falling too far behind, I do roughly 1.5 hours a week revision in total (I don't have frees or anything.)
Is it really that important or can I give it a few months? I didn't revise for my GCSEs until the last month or so and did quite well but I know A Levels are harder.
Thanks!
