My hair won't straighten!

Ok, so it will - to an extent. It's all flat and stuff but the ends of my hair are really thick. It's also impossible to tame the ends of my layers (they won't lie flat with the rest of the hair, they just stick out and... :frown:)

Does anyone have any ideas for making the layers stay flat and making the ends of my hair *flatter*/less thick? It looks really weird when the top of my hair is quite thin and flat then its all thick at the bottom... Gives my head a weird shape lol. Should I be using serum or something? :/

don't really think it's worth using serum..
just get it cut and the ends thinned out

Good idea... My hairdresser suggested it but I don't actually think she did it 'cause they are still really thick :p:

Try kinking/curling the ends under as opposed to flat/straight, it may help them to lie flatter.

Yeah I wold agree, just get the ends thinned out and maybe trim a little off them as well.

How do you straighten your hair? Do you straighten it in layers (ie putting your hair almost all up & straightening the bottom layer first)?

I had that problem - It didnt help that my mam cut my hair she also had a nervous hand :s-smilie:.So I went to my local salon they fixed my problem.

Using serums wont help you as your hair is thick and bulky serum will make it flatter but only for a few hours the root of your problem is your hair style.Serum also adds excess grease not attractive.

Go to a hairdressers and ask for your hair to be thinned they have this technique where it doesnt change lengh but removes bulk which you need!

Also get a side fringe if you dont already have one  Flatters everyone.

GHDS are great at straightning hair even afro hair!

Think for £30 your problem will be gone!No need to plaster on serums and hair spray you'll have natural pretty hair.

How are you straightening your hair?

When I'm in a rush my hair always goes like that because I never bother doing it properly, but when I have time my hair lies flat.

The best way to get your layers to go flat are to try and curl them under when you're straightening, and after brushing it they'll go flat.
