it does take an absolute age to get there, and that isn't an exaggeration. even on a bike it's a bit of a trek.

Don't mention feudalism in any of your essays or in your interview or in your P.S. Under any circumstances. Just don't do it.

why not?

Because it's asking for trouble.

It's only about a mile from the centre, compared to most universities that's nothing. Just compared to other Oxford colleges it's a bit far out.

St Hughs is miles away from anywhere. Trust those, who know.

Everyone says Stan's is miles out and Hugh's is double the distance!

They share our boat house though.

I live in Oxford and being tough can handle the ten minute walk to the centre from Hugh's. And if your referring to Dr Garnett when you say don't mention feudalism its a bit late for me i'm afraid as nearly my entire PS is based on medieval stuff with Richard the Lionheart highlighted, although there is a bit of oriental and 19th/20th century imperial politics thrown in too.

Is anyone else actually at or applying to St Hugh's, or is everyone just going to bitch about how far from the centre it is?

It really isn't that far...I mean I live in Oxford and I would be jealous of anyone living by St Hugh's because it's convenient for the centre, if you see what I mean.

It can be inconvenient for lectures in schools, though - especially considering that the lecture timetable is always silly and you end up with lectures dotted throughout the day. People from Hugh's don't really have the option of popping back to college between lectures etc...
Hey I've been allocated to St. Hugh's to read law  I made an open application.

St. Hugh's looks nice! And I'm not bothered by distances.. I walk quickly

Power walks from St Hughs will mean that the college ends up with a super-fit set of undergraduates, which can't be a bad thing.

Haha, that's one way of looking at it.
