Stitches in Eye (following eye squint operation)

Hi,

I recently (10 days ago) had an eye operation and had dissolvable stictches in my eye.

They have begun to hurt now.

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of this - is this common? How long do stitches in eye take to fully heal and stop hurting etc?

Also any advice on eye operations/squint operations?

Cheers in advance

Try phoning NHS direct I'm not too sure how helpful anyone here could be. Maybe some medics on TSR would want to post?
Mine healed in about 7 days.

Er... discuss with your GP on monday, if you have problems seeing, bleeding, loads of stickyness or the pain gets worse attend the out of hours service tonight.

Dissolvable stitches can vary greatly in their properties depending on material, size and manufacturing process. Nobody other than your surgeon will be able to answer your questions properly as nobody will know exactly which stitches were used. GP will be able to give a good idea as to whether something funky's going on or if things look normal.

thanks. No bleeding, problems seeing etc. - just pain. Hopefully that's a good sign?

Cheers.

The whites were completely red for the week and that was it. The eye got infected too and I had to go back to the hospital, but yeah, they feel perfectly fine now. It was over 5 years ago though.

How do you know whether your eye is infected. Are there any clear/obvious signs or is it something that the doctor can only really tell.

Thanks again

Pain isn't a great sign. If you're worried enough to post here and have new pain 10 days after an op, I'd suggest seeing the out of hours GP would be a good idea. You will not get an adequate examination on here or from a protocol reading nurse over the phone (NHS direct).
pain in your eyes is a ****ing bad sign. wanna risk going blind from an infection? didn't think so.

go see a doctor ASAP.

Mine have been in 30 years now and still haven't dissolved! I was told I could have then removed but that it could cause complications, iv never had a problem until recently were they have started itching and feel like something in my eye when closed. Not sure what to do.
