3D through one eye

I have a question regarding binocular vision. I know that images created on each of our eyes are compared to allow us to judge distance and depth so why can we see in 3D through one eye?

great question!

it is a highly technical area (hence why AI cannot yet copy the neurological mechanism)
I think the "formal" answer is something to do with the processing power of the visual cortex, where images are "processed" within the brain.
My own "casual" answer notes that our heads are usually not perfectly stationary, even small head movements will allow us to judge distance due to triangulation

Thank you for this. Something to think about and consider.
