flatemate starting a witch hunt on me Watch

don't want to go into too much detail in case they are on tsr, but one of my flatmates at uni (1st yr) decided to estrange me from my entire accommodation complex by accusing me of bullying them in an 80+ people public group chat, and when I extended them an olive branch by offering an apology for my misdemeanor (throwing out some spoiled leftovers without asking), they insisted on turning up to the conversation with a posse of friends.

I'm incredibly nervous for it; I'm already anxious to even approach them due to the ridiculously high hostility and their behaviour in isolating me from everyone else.

How on earth am I meant to deal with this in a calm, collected manner? I'm on the verge of panicking about it.

I take it your both girls?

She overacts by going nuts because you threw some food away.

You are overacting because she called you out on it ( hardly a witch-hunt)

I'd just try and deflate the situation because it seems a bit petty.

I don’t think the OP is overreacting because the girl involved over 80 other people for no good reason.

She posted it on a group chat that had 80 members.
Not the same as face to face telling 80 people.
Regardless it seems quite petty. Not worth falling out with over.

What’s the difference? They all know now and they could believe that the OP is a bully.

Also is this one of these study group chats that was set up for course related 'study' help.
But in reality it's just full of gossip, memes and nonsense?

Just curious

no, it's a group chat that includes everyone from my accommodation building. so everyone in the chat is someone I have to live in direct proximity to in some way or another; That's why I'm freaking out at the idea of them all having a warped opinion of me.

but we do have a course-specific "study help group chat" and you can bet I'm posting memes in there from time to time, along with everyone else
