I'm finally cracking

I changed school after my GCSE's when I had quite a fair few friends, but now I've gone to a public, sort-of rough school where it's all about not working in school and about how well you can play football. :frown:

I dunno... I've got two weeks of school left until summer, but it gets hard at school sometimes when I just try and avoid most people because they're quite... bad, to say the least. :frown:

Sometimes I have full days with no free periods so it gets quite tough during breaks and lunches where I can't go out because I won't have enough time, so I'm forced to socialise with drug addicts, binge drinkers and the general type of person who wants to follow gang culture (in fact, my school is basically run on gang culture). :s-smilie:

There have, of course, been numerous stabbings, incidents involving drugs, fights etc, but nearly EVERYONE is involved or knows someone who's involved, and think of getting away with it as a thing that gives you respect/social status.

Any advice? I'm sure that I can bear it next year when I'll be dropping an AS and taking Further Maths, so I'll have about 12 more free periods (which is great news for me because I can go home early and come to school late every day )

Just two more weeks to bear and I feel as though I'm cracking - I've sort of gone through this since the beginning of the year but now that I see a light at the end of the tunnel every day seems like an eternity.. Just thought I'd let it out tbh.
Is this a London school? Where is it?

TBH For someone at that kind of school you sound pretty strong minded, and together, so take heart.
sounds like you are going through a really rough time at school.
Pardon me for asking, but why did you transfer to such a school?? didn't you check it out before you applied there?

About the whole situation though - you shouldn't have to 'bear' what you're enduring right now - coz if you're cracking now, surely it would only get much worse next year. And for you to say that you are 'escaping' to get home during your free periods say a lot.

Isn't there a way of you transferring out of there if you're so unhappy? If you don't like that, maybe do your a levels as a private candidate?

Coz I've endured going to high school where it was unbearable - but not like your situation of course, but even so, I reported the incidences and stood up for myself coz there was no way I could live life like that.

The thing is, my Grandma was really ill - deteriorating at a steady and consistant rate. My parents decided that it was best to move into a bigger house, and my school was a) far too expensive to manage having just bought a house and b) very far away to get to.

So, I had to go closer. Admittingly, it's one of the 'best' in the area but yes, it is in London.

I'm sure I can bear it next year, it's fine. It's not like they take drugs at school - just pass it around and whatnot. I tend to avoid the large gatherings of people where it's obvious something will start up (especially with my presence )

I guess it's inspiring that I can have such an effect on a large group of people... ^_^

Just two more weeks, thats what I keep telling myself - just 8 more days...

But it's getting to me. :s-smilie:
well if you say that you can endure it next year then fair enough

yeesh.. that is pretty bad sorry to hear that :frown:

but for now all I can say is that.. yeah.. keep telling yourself that its only 8 more day - keep yourself busy and take up some sport or hobbies or something.
If you keep yourself occupied then you won't feel the time drone on for so long.

Do you think you might be being a bit harsh on them?
Not everyone who does drugs and binge drinks are horrible or failing or anything...

You'd be surprised. It's either hardcore stuff or just drinking. I do have friends, but they're only friendly during class and outside they're really mean because they're around their friends. :s-smilie:
