I’ve got an unconditional offer from Falmouth and I’m coming from far away and want to know what the kind of vibe is there. I have this picture of what I think it’s like that a kind of late summer nights on the beach but In England vibe😂 I’ve always gone on holiday To a small seaside town in Cornwall and I absolutely love it and just wondered how different it is to other unis.

I might not be a ton of help as I don’t go to Falmouth but I’ve grown up in Cornwall my whole life and know what Falmouth is like from other students and lecturers telling me.
Falmouth is easily seen as this lovely seaside quaint English place to live. If you haven’t lived in Cornwall I can see why people think that! There however isn’t a lot to do compared to most universities and it’s a bit of a shock to some people. But at the same time some people love the quiet.
I’ve heard lots of pros and cons about the university. I know of many students who have had a bad time as Falmouth is apparently often overwhelmed with the amount of students they accept for funding (this is only what I’ve heard though and it could honestly just be biased opinions). Other people say it’s amazing and is well known for a reason. Lecturers are always going on about how amazing Falmouth is and what an amazing experience it is! However I know first hand that although it may be great, it also depends how you’d feel about living in Cornwall! If you’re at penryn campus, that’ll be different to! Unless you have a car, there’s not really much to do in Cornwall as a whole.
Also it probably depends a lot on which course you’re applying to! I know with the animation course for example, they have amazing industry links.
Sorry I know I’ve given a lot of pros and cons and haven’t really answered your question, but if there’s anything else you’d like to know specifically about Falmouth area and Cornwall I’m happy to help!

I graduated from Falmouth Illustration this year and lived about 5 hours away. Moving to Falmouth was the best decision of my life. It’s definitely a different vibe, beach bbq nights, house parties and a small selection of bars and clubs but it’s the people you’ll meet who will really make it fun. It’s such a chill place to be and it’s so nice in the summer months! Can’t recommend it enough to be honest. I miss it so much 😊

I'd suggest taking a little look at the pages listed below, which might give you a better idea of what to expect from living and studying in Falmouth.
I'd also encourage you to chat with some current Falmouth students by using this 'Ask a student' tool - https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/ask-a-student. You can select the student you'd like to chat to, based on their course, where they are from etc., so it's a really great way of finding out what it's really like to live in Falmouth from the student perspective.

Any questions, let me know
