fairly struggling with differentiation already

rn im learning the basic rules of differentiating logarithms and sin etc etc basically the start of the year 2 differentiation topic, and im super struggling on the basics

kinda confused where they got the -2 from in this expansion

wouldnt it be e^4x + e^-4x ?

How would a "normal" expression like (x^2 - x^-2)^2 expand? Not like x^4 + x-^4, so it's not the same with exponentials either. Expand it like a "normal" expression.
