I feel really depressed and not very happy, I just feel sad sometimes and at others normal. It’s a feeling I struggle to deal with. I just feel like I want to sleep to escape the feeling. Any help I’m 21 and I live alone

Do you know if there’s any reason behind why you feel the way you do?

Ok well a good way to deal with it is by distracting yourself. But from the sounds of it you have depression, which means no matter your life situations, you’re incapable of being happy

We can’t read your mind. Say exactly how you’re feeling about certain things. Do things that used to interest you now seem dull? Are you feeling lonely? Stressed? How do your daily activities make you feel?

I no longer have interest in anything or my hobbies, I just get bored and frustrated all the time. I just want to sleep instead

Sounds like depression. Losing interest in just about everything and being stressed over things other people just get on with indicates this. I know myself how it feels. I’d hypocritically (as I haven’t done so myself) recommend getting professional help, or even looking online for ways to deal with depression as a mental illness. Sadly it’s something that can’t be dealt with by “trying to be happy” or “doing things you like”, as these things are no longer enjoyable. As difficult as it will be at this moment try and isolate a few things that you like about your life and focus on them. If you can’t do this please try and get professional help or look for resources online.

the one thing i learnt is that when you're feeling empty you have to fight it..otherwise you will just keep falling into a deeper hole feeling more emptier hopeless. YOu have to try . I think that you are feeling like this because you are growing up..your mind is starting to think broad like what is the purpose of life.. sleeping will make you worse and these feelings will increase if you dont deal with it now.
From my experience i will give you tips:
1) Get a pet (oh goshh this one makes such a difference trust me.. dog or cat..they always know how to make your day
2) Research about religions (this is a weird one..but trust me its a bit like soul searching) it never hurts to try.
3) Vitamin D (oh goddd this is also such a big one and ppl always overlook it..statistics show that asian and hotter countries have lower rate of depression bacause they obtain more sunlight) so if you are living in a cold country like England for example i recommend getting Vitamin d tablets..check this with your GP..who knows you might also be low on iron and stuff.
4) Excercise (i know you dont feel like it but try it and you feel so good afterwards and motivated do it with music if it helps.
5) lastly take it step by step..healing takes a long time..
Hope this helps..if you have any questions ask me x

What helped with my mh was not so much relying on drugs but living a healthier life for instance having a purpose, going to bed a reasonable time, getting up earlier, eating a cleaner diet, cut caffeine and alcohol, cutting down screen time, socialising more, studying more, reading more, stop using porn etc. For me it was like no chit I had bad anxiety because I had such bad habits.

Sounds like you have depression. It might be worth making an appointment with your GP and explaining your symptoms to them. They can diagnose you and discuss treatments plans, such as antidepressants, therapy, or a mix of both. If you want to start on antidepressants, they'll likely prescribe them on the day, but getting referred to therapy can take a while as there's usually a waiting list. Alongside this, you could try making some lifestyle changes as others had mentioned, like having a set time for going to sleep/ waking up and eating clean. One thing that really helped me was finding new people to make friends with through work/ clubs, as it was a good way to distract me from how I felt when I was alone. I know it's easier said than done, but trying to get out of the house more will definitely help, as being at home alone will most likely just make you feel worse.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you feel better soon. You will overcome this!

See your GP please don't take advice from random TSR people. Mental health issues are quite serious and need delicate medical care.

If there is not a specific reason that making u feel sad then it is more likely to be a depression.
The best thing to do is to see ur GP and tell what ur feeling so that they can guid u.

Your first step is to go and see your GP, and tell them about how you're feeling
