Hi,

My name's Alice and I'm TSR Rep for ULaw Nottingham Campus. We are the newest Campus at University of Law, opening in September 2019.

If anyone is thinking of applying or wants some information on the university or life in Nottingham, let me know and I'll be happy to help where I can

Hi, I’m wondering that is the ULaw just best in the LPC course as I’m looking to do my LLB degree but heard it’s not good for that? Also what is the social/uni life like since it’s all law and business students there

Hi there - good to hear from you

It's a big decision so definitely a good idea to look into it. ULaw's statistics from the LLB suggest that it's a great course (92% of full-time UK LLB students graduating in 2017 secured employment or further study within six months of completing their course.) That aside, I think the focus on law makes the campuses ideal if you want a head start - the atmosphere is focused, you'll have a lot in common with all the students because everyone is working on similar degrees, and because all the tutors have been in practise you feel like you are getting set up for the profession!

Nottingham is a brand new campus, so in terms of campus societies, we're just getting started - however, this has proved great for if you've got an idea to start your own club or society! In terms of social life outside the campus you definitely don't need to worry. Nottingham has 9 bars per square mile, and with the other unis there are loads of student nights you can get involved in. My experience so far is that law students enjoy socialising just as much as anyone else!

Have you considered coming to an open day? That would be a great way to have a look at one of the campuses and chat to some LLB students.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with

Alice

The university of Law is not part of the Russell group as they are not research intensive

Hi!

The Nottingham Campus is very new and I haven't met a Canadian, although I'm sure there are students from a lot of places studying in the different campuses. ULaw is a teaching university, as opposed to a research university, so (as above) isn't within the Russell Group. However, in terms of legal teaching it has an excellent reputation! Are you looking to study a law degree? Let me know if you have any further questions about ULaw - I'd be happy to help!

Hi Tilly,

Thanks for your question. I don't study at the Nottingham Campus but from what I have heard from friends who study there, they have really enjoyed the social aspect and feel for the campus (pre-covid!). Here's a link where you can delve into the virtual tour for the campus! https://www.law.ac.uk/locations/nott.../virtual-tour/

In regard to your question about the teaching, you will be taught by professionals who have extensive experience in practice. ULaw focus on the skills that employers are most interested in so that you can enhance your academic knowledge while preparing for the realities of life in legal practice. I have found the tutors to be very knowledgeable and helpful.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have more questions that you'd like us to answer!

Hi Shona1305

Thanks for your question.

If you still do not know your start date, then I would double check your emails, there may be confirmation of dates in the ULaw correspondence. It may also be worth emailing study support at [email protected] to double check if you’re still usure.

Alternatively, you check specific dates on our website here, which depending on your chosen type of LPC (i.e. full time, part-time, accelerated or online) should provide you with some clarity.

I hope this helps!

Enjoy your studies in September.
