I scorn the rah look, but for boys it usually involves an unhealthy amount of Ralph Lauren.
    Spot on.

I've always wondered why people are obsessed with a label that prides itself on two of the most inaccessible sports for most people: Polo and yachting.

How many Ralph Loren wearers have been to a polo match or a yachting regatta? :p:

To be honest although you say that both polo and yachting are the most inaccessable sports for people, there is not a huge difference between people wearing a Ralp Lauren polo etc and say a rugby or football shirt, particulalrly as the England rugby team is almost excusively made up out of ex public and grammar school men.

Rugby union perhaps, though not rugby league (but then we're getting into split infinitives ).

Ben Elton had something to say about people who play role-playing games in the woods being seen as saddoes while blokes who spend fortunes on acrylic t-shirts with the names of Korean typewriter firms on them (aimed at Manchester City of the 1990s) were cool.

Do rah-ty boys wear football tops these days?

No I actually meant say for instance Chavs who would most likely not play in a (professional) football team or ever hope to be able to wearing football shirts or even say Nike trainers/sports clothes being in a similar (although not identical as often people would wear a shirt of the team their support but this does not really apply to Nike clothing) position to people wearing Ralph Lauren clothing.

I can't help but think half the people that **** it off are jealous.
I am certainly not jealous of their poor sense of fashion.
