Wanting to work abroad for the summer...

I feel like I spend most of my summers at home doing nothing or working repetitive jobs (I've done retail and production line- it's the pits). It's my first summer of uni and I'd love to find a way to work abroad. Only problem is I have no money and few good experience/employable qualities.
My first thought was Camp America but it looks like you get delegated to worse jobs if you don't have any specific skills/specialities (the 'campower' roles) and your chances of getting hired go down if you haven't worked with kids before.
Does anyone else know how to find a way to work abroad for the summer, or have any experience doing it? I study English so tutoring sounds like an idea but I don't know how to go about it.

Why don't you try and get some volunteering which involves working with children.
I don't think you should rule out camp america! Loads and loads of people don't have specific skills and they're just general counsellors (that's what I've been for the last two summers). You look after a group of kids and take them to each activity, as long as you like kids and are enthusiastic and willing to help with each activity, then you're fine! Most people are general counsellors anyway, I'd say the activity specialists are a minority. As for experience with kids, you will need that - babysitting counts if you've ever done that or even just saying you enjoy spending time with younger cousins/family friends if you have any? You can easily get experience with kids, ask to help out in clubs/schools? Then you'll also know if you want to spend time with kids! You have plenty of time to get experience, it's definitely definitely worth it.
Camp America is a lot of fun and usually if you don't have specific skills you can do a lot of different things. Most camps arrange tons of activities so the chances are you will be doing lots of activities anyway. This is one of the most fun ways to spend summer, I enjoyed it anyway! Also check out Americamp who are similar but offer higher salaries. If you didn't want to work at a camp there are also tons of other summer jobs abroad, I guess it depends on where you want to go / do.

I've gone through InterExchange Camp USA the last 3 summers. Just £125, and they have the best jobs in the market. Incredibly helpful company too.
