LFA Latin University of York

I’m going to do Linguistics at York next year and I get 2 free electives, one I wanted to do as Literature and another as Languages For All in Latin (Classical or Medieval). I’m learning Latin right now and I’d absolutely love to carry it on but is it worthless? Latin is super important in Linguistics for origins of lexis and morphemes but it’s not vital to actually speak any of it - I just find it interesting!

Am I wasting my time doing Latin and should just do a MLF elective or should I do it just as something I enjoy and can do as part of my degree?
