What engineering course is best suited for me.

Hi All.

I wanted to ask if anyone can advise me as to what course would be better suited for a man of my age 45 and my goals.

I want to learn engineering because I like building things and making things.

I want to get a better understanding of engineering as a whole.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

Alex

What discipline are you most interested in? What do you want to work with when you graduate?

I know most engineering degrees are very heavy on the math side and are very theoretical.

Do you want to do a degree? If so, what type of Engineering?

Would the OU work better for you?

Hello, Thank you for responding, open university would be an option i guess.

I am not to fussed about getting a degree but i guess i would not say no to on eif if am doing the work anyway but it is not essential.

At my age what would a degree do for me anyway?

But either way my aim is more for knowledge than a badge or certificate .

I hope that helps ?

OK - then do look at OU modules as you can mix and match - no need to have an end point in mind.

You could also look at adult education and MOOCs.

Do you work in engineering at the moment? If so, how much do you earn?

Might be difficult combination to find, environmental is more commonly found with civil engineering.

Are you intending to work in engineering after completion of your course? There aren't really any courses that will cover engineering as a whole, as ultimately courses are designed to help you secure employment in a specific discipline.
