Graduation Emergency!!!!!!!!!

Ok I need some huge help with this!! Basically my graduation is on the 22nd and I haven't ordered my robe!! When I call the company they say its too late and all I can do is come 2 hours before and see if there are spares. The lady said there would be spares but it seems very risky!!

Does anyone know of any places in LONDON where I can hire a gown for the day in such short notice?? Please please please anyone will do!!

PS. The ones who said that its too late are GownHire.

I suspect you're buggered. Try calling Ede and Ravenscroft, they did ours. But your problem is likely to be that you've got to wear the right colours and stuff...
gownhire are ede & ravenscroft aren't they? I thought they effectively had a monopoly on these things. Can't see why it would be so hard to put another gown in the pack for the day - they will have loads anyway.

Yeah, I thought Ede & Ravenscroft were the pretty dominant supplier - I didn't realise they were the same thing as GownHire thought.

But yes, you'd think it would be relatively easy...

Yup E&R are GownHire! Surely this is a monopoly why haven't they been investigated!!...I think I'm clutching at straws and ranting now..

Probably because there is little money in it and E&R are only turning a profit because of their history.

Indeed. "Being the only people who can be arsed to work in a sector" =/= illegal monopoly...

Don't panic! This happened with a few of my friends and it worked out fine in the end. Just make sure that you're there early so that you have enough time to queue and that you can get first choice on the spare robes the supplier brings. There will be enough spares and really there is little point in looking for alternative robes when the supplier will have brought enough spares to cover late orders and will have the right colours etc.

They'll have spares. Trust me. I used to organise graduations and it was never a problem - apart from anything else, there'll be spares in case people have ordered completely the wrong size or somehow asked for the wrong colour hood. Do leave plenty of time, but don't panic.

I'm facing the same problem, how did it turn out for you?

Same problem different year!

How did it go?
This must count as a First World Problem!
I totally stuffed up and did the same thing but found another supplier who home deliver - Churchill Gowns - I think you can order up until 3 days before your ceremony from them but they only supply some unis at the mo... may be worth a look though! I'm sure the other suppliers would have spares on the day but I just didn't want to take the risk or get up early to join a queue

This is a 2008 thread - they have probably sorted it out by now.
