Would it be a demerit or would I be likely to get a place on an English Masters with a BA in journalism?

Have you done any literary analysis in your current degree? Some courses may be less particular about your background, however I would suggest you contact any universities offering courses you may be interested in applying to in order to see if your background is suitable for their masters.

You may find your range of options for a literature masters more limited if you haven't done a literary course (e.g. English, Classics, some modern languages courses, comparative literature etc) for your first degree. They might also expect you to have particular familiarity already with the literature of a given period or region if it's a more specialised masters degree (which more or less by definition most masters degrees will be).

Hi Ellie :hello:

I would recommend that you contact the universities that you're interested in. They should be able to give you an idea if your BA would be suitable.

I hope this helps!
