please keep anon, friends are around..

    the short story..
Basically have depression, have done since dec.Over last few months i have been put off my food so as a result did loose quite a bit of weight.
Since i broke up from school (year 12) i've got worse, the tutor i talk to about my problems isn't about so i feel like i'm doing this alone. I've had soo many arguments with parents and i;m scared to socialise with my friends. I've tried to ditract myself.. get a job but no where wants me, voluteer but i cant get incontact with the right people..
everything seems to be against me.

so as a result i just cant stop eating. i dont no what to do. i can see i'm gaining weight which is stressing me out.
how can i control my eating?

A good defence is a strong offence.

More on this later. Try and work it out.

Try doing an activity that takes up quite a lot of your attention, so it really does distract you when you're down. You could try reading a good book for instance. May perk you up, leave you less time to be bored, and if you really get sucked into it, you won't feel the need to nibble.

You may not want to socialise with loads of people, but do you have one mate who's closer than the rest? You could spend some time with just them and confide in them. Maybe get out the house away from your parents for a while. Also, if you're out of the house, eating requires finding and buying food, making it less likely for you to snack all the time.

    I do it too.

It sucks, but its very common!
Try to have healthy snacks around that don't need much or any preparation so you can eat those, have a big glass or water/tea/coffee etc and then read or watch tv to distract yourself...

The best way to stop eating is to do some exercise. Not only does it provide time when you physically can't eat (before, during and after) but it gives you motivation in changing your diet to compliment the hard work you put in to exercise.

Whenever you're feeling hungry and it's not a proper meal sink a pint of water and see if you're still hungry.

    Failing that, appetite suppressants.
