The First compound is an ester, the alcohol forming it would be heptanol (7 carbons long) and the carboxilic acid would be decanoic acid (10 carbon chain) giving a formula of
    CH3-(CH2)5-C-O-CO-(CH2)8-CH3
    or C_{17} H_{32} O_2

The second is another ester the alcohol is phoenol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenol) for the structure and the acid is benzoic acid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzoic_acid) look at the links if you havnt seen the structures before

Remember with esters it's alcohol first then acid (my chemistry teacher taught us to remember it like this, think of a bottle of wine at a party - first its alcohol and good then in the morning its gone nasty and turned into vinegar (acid!) so alcohol first then acid)

    Thank-you very much, I got

    CH3-(CH2)5-CH2-O-O-C(CH2)8-CH3

But I understand your explanation - thank you muchly.

    Lets research the Phenol's!
