I got a B at GCSE Intermediate Mathematics, but decided to take it at A-Level to get a better qualification in it. It is, on the whole, really quite easy (AS is anyway - I've not got futher than this); your algebra needs to be pretty sharp, but people who call it 'insanely' difficult are either (i) trying to scare you, or (ii) have scant ability in the subject; it's nothing to worry about at all.

Biology at AS-Level is interesting, learning about the cell, the biochemistry, DNA/RNA/Protien Synthesis, the Heart, and how fluids move through plants is all very good. Given that, however, there is a whole chunck of the second module which is all about Ecology, and really boarders very closely with Human Geography; this really is awful.

If I were you, I'd take Maths, it's easier than Biology, and is more applicable to a greater range of other subjects.

Hey all- im almost reaching my final A level descision, but here goes:

Im settled on Geography, Gov/Politics, Economics & English Lit'.

But im stuck on the fifth- between maths and biology.

I enjoyed GCSE Biology but the Alevel sounds alot more well- scientific, which is putting me off.

Maths GCSE was OK, sat in year ten and achieved two Bs and retook both hoping for As'.

Im leaning towards maths because my financially driven heart knows thats where the money lies- but from what Ive seen/heard of Maths at A level it has begun to terrify me, It just seems so much harder than the GCSE's

Is this me being paranoid? Which would you go for?

    Thanks in Advance. Trefusis

If you're not going to do any other sciences then I'd say stick with Maths. It's relatively easy, there's no coursework and it's requires little revision provided you work in class.
