Although the speed of blood flow in an arteriole is greater than speed of blood flow
in a capillary, blood does not accumulate in the arterioles.
Explain why?

i thought because arteries have a bigger internal diameter than capillaries, they can withstand pressure and also more blood can be pumped out without it accumulating but the answer is actually quite different:

Many / more capillaries (than arterioles);
Area of capillaries (much) greater (than of arterioles).

can someone please explain, thanks!
I think that the general idea of this answer is that there is a greater area of capillaries for the arteriole blood to flow into so there is unlikely to be a large enough volume of blood flowing through one area of capillary such that the blood accumulates in the capillaries. I'm not certain though, maybe somebody else can give a second opinion.
